Weekly Photo Challenge: White Nights and Golden Hours

July’s Golden Hour, Portsmouth NH

The first and last hour of each day’s allotment of sunlight is the photographer’s “golden hour.”  Lately the golden hours have been suffused with scarlet.

Last summer one of my daughters studied in St. Petersburg and experienced Russia’s White Nights, which never turn black.

I suppose that, depending on one’s disposition and level of inherent optimism, one could think of White Nights either as lacking golden hours . . . . or think of days without darkness as perpetually golden.

About Stephanie

In her spare time, Stephanie works full-time, and then some, as an attorney. She has published articles and delivered talks in arcane fields like forensic evidentiary issues, jury instructions, and expert scientific witness preparation. She also is an adjunct professor at a law school on the banks of the Charles and loves that dirty water, as she will always think of Boston as her home. Oh my, lovely pictures! Sydney has a very long golden hour and it is gorgeous! Didn’t know about the white nights phenomenon in St. Petersburg. Definitely one for the bucket list.

These are wonderful Stephanie! Do you not comment/share to the Weekly Photo Challenge comments section? I didn’t realize you participated until just now, with this post. I’m either blind, or somehow in my usual weekly random sampling of other peoples posts for the challenge I’ve had the misfortune of missing yours. I guess now I’ll just have to subscribe won’t I 🙂

Oh yea, meant to give you a little good natured grief for posting full res., un-watermarked, photos. They’re good, you should protect them even if you have no desire whatsoever to sell them.
