It seems to be haiku Friday again.
As frigid hints of winter call on us to pull layers of clothing out of storage, an ode to the layers around us:
Tonight’s layered sky/Topped with vivid magenta/White gold underneath
Cardinal red leaves/Segue to crimson and brown/Arrayed in layers
Layers of autumn/Crisping lemon-lime and rust/Swishing underfoot
Layers of water/Overlaid on lichen rock/Make an abstract plane
Layers of feathers/Magnificent cobalt hearts/Lie in each center
Edinburgh clouds/Layered above earth and sea/Simply majestic
Layers of basalt/Stepping stones for the giants/Of so long ago
Camoflouge colors/Disguise a modern building/Layered on mountains
Undulating roots/Nature’s unending layers/Are fed by the rain
Flowering cactus/Symmetrical layering/Makes it look easy
Pastel petals curl/Layered around the center/Of a cabbage rose
Years of layered wax/Dripping nightly from candles/Do you see the heart?
Bright green and orange/Make a herringbone pattern/When layered in fall
